The Rugged Run photos are now available at www.justascphotography.com. Enter your bib # in any of the search boxes to see photos of you. What is the Rugged Run for Respect?

Rugged Run for Respect is sure to challenge every level of athlete with trails, mud and obstacles! Whether you are a seasoned runner or triathlon expert, looking to add some spice to your training or wanting to try something new with your friends ... this is the race for YOU! Thousands of runners will get 'down and dirty' at Aviator Sports in Brooklyn at our first annual Rugged Run for Respect, benefiting the 55,698 athletes of Special Olympics New York. The approximate 5k out-and-back course on paved roads and dirt trails includes hills, water, a low crawl, a five foot wall to scale, a mud pit and much more. In addition, there will be a post event party to enjoy.

I am not in the best shape, can I still participate?

Absolutely. We suggest working with a personal trainer on a program that will incorporate core strength, cardio endurance and upper body strength. Tips will be added to our facebook page www.facebook.com/ruggedrunforrespectnyc and website frequently.

$85.00

What is the age requirement to participate in Rugged Run for Respect?

All participants must be 16 years old or older.  We will require parents consent for participants under the age of 18.

Do you offer refunds?

No, sorry. No refunds will be issued

I'm injured and cannot run, can I get a refund?

No, sorry. No refunds will be issued due to any type of injury.

How do I get a deal on registration?

Register early.

Is there a deadline for race registration?

The last day to register online is October 10th! Day of registration is welcome.

Do I have to sign a waiver to participate?

YES, you will sign a waiver when you receive your registration packet.

Can I have promotional materials to put in my office/school/gym/workplace, etc?

Absolutely!  Contact Amy Monahan at amonahan@nyso.org or call Amy at 212-661-5217 for all printed materials.

Merchandise:


Where can I purchase Rugged Run for Respect merchandise?

You can purchase merchandise online, at the registration pick up event or on the day of the race in the Merchandise tent.

Pre- Race Packet Pick up:


How will I get my race packet?  

Racer Bib numbers and timing chips will be picked up at the registration tent on race day. (October 13)

Can I pickup my race packet on race day?

Yes, but we strongly advise you to pick up all materials beforehand if possible.

Can someone else pick up my race packet?

Unfortunately not. Each racer can only pick up their own race packet with a photo ID. No exceptions.  If you cannot make it to the pre-event pick up location than you can pick up your packet on the day of the race!

Day of Event info:


What should I wear?

Comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting muddy, running shoes and gloves.

Will there be showers?

Yes, showers/hoses will be available

What do I do when I arrive on the day of the Rugged Run for Respect event?

Stretch out and prepare yourself for the most challenging fun you will ever have.

What time do I arrive on race day?

Please arrive approximately 1 hour prior to your race time.

Will there be parking?

Yes, parking is available at Aviator Sports.

What should I bring on race day?

Waterproof sun block, sunglasses, gloves, trash bags for your dirty clothes, clean clothes, flip flops/sneakers for the after event festivities. Bring a little cash if you want food, beverages or merchandise.  If you already have your number, affix it to the back of your shirt.

Where can I find medical help?

Medical help will be available at the start/finish lines as well as on the race course.

Is there a time limit for each heat?

No, there is no time limit to finish the course. Participants are permitted to walk the course.

Can I skip an obstacle?  

We strongly encourage you to try to finish the entire course.  If you are unable to complete a particular obstacle there will be a penalty for obstacle omittance. IE: push ups, burpees, knife swallowing. Just making sure you are paying attention! But seriously ... try to finish each obstacle.

Are water and aid stations on the course?

Yes, there will be water and aid stations on the course and at the start/finish area.

Are spectators allowed, do they pay for admission and where can they view the race?

Spectators will be able to view the Rugged Run for Respect from the start/finish line area at no cost.

Will the event be cancelled if there is bad weather?

Rugged Run events will proceed unless under extremely bad weather conditions.

Post Race:


Where can I find my race results?

Race results will be posted within 48 hours of the event on www.ruggedrunforrespect.org

Will the photos from the race be posted online?

Yes. Photos will be posted and available for purchase within 7 days of the event.
